which two channel do you have?
I have a Bryston 4B and boy does it kick. I used it on my LS6's, before i sold them, and it sure made them sing. It seemed there is much more power than it is rated...

Re: which two channel do you have?
My 2 channel is my tv setup. So when music is on it's x-sls classics and an xr57. When I finish my speakers it will be those and my Pop Pulse T40i.

I'll likely order the crossover parts next week. But next week end, valentine's, I'm picking my gf up from school (college 4 hours away ), so it'll be a waste as far as speaker construction goes.

Re: which two channel do you have?
I'm waiting for new Xovers for my Rocket RS1Ks, which will be driven by an Acurus A200x3 amp, using a new Pio 1018 AVR as a pre. This is in my main listening are, which is somewhat large, basically my entire first floor.
I have an old Carver receiver driving AV123 X-LS Classics in my study. Also, my old HTPC with all my music ripped to iTunes, much of it lossless. Just order cables to run from the soundcard, M-Audio 7.1, to the Carver, so I can listen to music in the study.
Have two different thoughts going on,
1 - upgrade the X-LS to the Ninja upgrades, or, build Danny Ritchie's Neo -2x, for this area.
2 - Should I get a DAC in-line somewhere? I really feel like I need to know more about DACS, what they can and cannot do for me, what to look for in purshasing them, etc.
3 - And while at it, I have my Denon TT in this room, would wonder if some form of tube based pre-amp in the system might be worth experimenting with, but like the DAC, I really feel my knowledge of tube pre's is inadequate.

I'm running a Adcom GFA-545 MKII. (100 Wx2) For a budget amp I'm very happy with it for now. I'd like to upgrade to somthing like Classe or Krell. Or several others. But that will be later! Just hope not too much later.

Well for a budget amp I think it is nice. Imaging is good. I think its a good match for the Monitor 7's. Soundstage is full. Bass is nice. I just replaced the diaphrams on the tweeters, so I've been keeping it low, trying to break them in. It's the only seperate amp i've had on the Monitors. So not much to compare to. I'd like to run a Classe with some Sonus Fabers.
The Adcom IS a huge improvment over my Pioneer VSX-912K HTR. Thats for sure!

2 Channel madness
Hi everyone
In terms of amps for my main 2 channel set-up I'll be rotating the following amps.
Threshold 400A (maybe)
Sumo Nine Plus
Rawson Clone of an Aleph J
Preamps: McCormack TLC-1 and maybe a Levinson ML-1
Speakers: KEF Q90s
Source: Emotiva ERC-1, Oppo BDP-83 (SACD, concert DVDs), Sony XDR-F1HD
In my basement system my amp will be Phase Linear 700B and the preamp is a NAD 1155. Speakers in the basement will be a pair of Ohm Walsh 2s.
Source: Pioneer DV-09
Take care. JD

It's quite nice. It's my first stand-alone DAC so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was at first a little disappointed that the difference over my CD-10 wasn't huge, but it definitely helps out the squeezebox quite a bit. Turns out the CD-10 is just pretty good out of the box I guess. I have all my music ripped lossless on my server, so I stream music to the living room quite a bit. I definitely like having it there.
Edit: I should identify myself as a dealer, in case you didn't know. It's not in my sig here...

So, I did something impulsive today. I came across a pristine used Naim Nait 5i-2 integrated amp at a very good price and bought it. I figured this amp has so many great reviews and awards I can always resell it if I don't like it and buy an Onix from Hugh and Co. (a.k.a. Kevin).
So, my 2-channel systems:
System 1:
Naim 5i-2 integrated amp
Audio Space CDP-8A CD Player
Quad 22L2 speakers
System 2:
Onix H34 tube integrated amp
Onix CD-1
Pro-ject Xpression 3 Turntable/Music Hall Phono Stage
Strata Mini Speakers/Onix Reference 1 MKii speakers
and an Xtra NAD C355BEE integrated amp that I have no need of . . .
I probably should sell some of this stuff and get into a computer based/DAC system - if I knew anything about any of that . . .

Thanks. I sure hope so. Have you owned a Naim? I've been reading about their sonic qualities and high praise. They seem to have an almost cult-like following - when this one came along I couldn't resist. Add me to the cult Who couldn't use a little pace, rhythm and timing in the lives!!
They have kind of a quirky reputation from what I've read. Although this new model seems to be more mainstream where interconnects/speaker wire are concerned. I've read that a cd player will sound much better if you run it through the DIN connections versus the RCA. So, I'm wondering where I might find connectors that have RCA ends for the CD player and that end in a DIN plug at the amp end. . . any ideas? Any Naim owners out there?? Actually, my Audio Space Cd player has mutlitple options including the ability to be connected through it's tube section (RCA), solid state section (RCA), vacuum tube balanced output and/or through a coaxial digital/optical digital output. Any advice would be welcomed!!

Re: which two channel do you have?
I have not owned a Naim, no. I have listened to them quite often at a local dealer on Vandys and Linn speakers.
One of the reasons I picked the Exposure was it's timing, likened to the Naims many times. These amps just make you tap your toe.

Re: which two channel do you have?
Well, my Naim is due to arrive tomorrow. But since I'm away visiting my father my wife will receive the box - hate it when that happens
Good news is that the new model Naim 5i will accept RCA/RCA interconnects and my banana terminated bi-wires. No need to change or purchase anything.
I'm really looking forward to hearing my Quads through this amp - given its marvelous reviews.
Happy Easter all . . . .

Re: which two channel do you have?
I use a 2 channel integrated that I picked up off of Craigslist, a Ditton Elan DI-260.
It is an amazingly good integrated, beat out my modified Music Hall A25.2. Power to spare driving my GR N2Xs.
Couldn't find a lick of information on the Ditton from the internet, couldn't find any reference to a Ditton electronics or stereo company. There were a couple of Japanese web pages with these mentioned.

Re: which two channel do you have?
I'm awaiting the Nightshade Beacon 2 on it's tour to mate it with my Bryston 4B. Right now I have an upgraded Superphon SP-100 pre. It's 20 years old, though was rebuilt and upgraded a few years back. The amp is 30 next year, but I sent it to Bryston back in June to be re-capped.

Give the Melody P1688 Sig. Pre a try.
I have one in my setup for quite sometime now.etcarroll wrote:To update;
1) Just updated X-LS to Budo
2) Just bought Ref 3s, had NinjaMaster w/platinum caps added
3) Got the NinjaMaster kit for the RS1Ks, still have to install them
4) going to audition some tubed pres tomorrow.etcarroll wrote:I'm waiting for new Xovers for my Rocket RS1Ks, which will be driven by an Acurus A200x3 amp, using a new Pio 1018 AVR as a pre.
