    Hi everyone

I have a pair of Outlaw Audio Model 2200 monoblocks that I don't want to part with. I was hoping to use them to power a pair of subwoofers. Does anyone have any suggestions on any passive subwoofers that would match well with Model 2200s? If I need to provide more info please let me know.

Would they be used for stereo or HT? Are the amps 4 ohm stable?

    Hi ch46eseaknight

The subs would be part of a stereo set-up. The Outlaw Model 2200s are 4-ohm stable and can even handle dips to 2 ohms. I confirmed with Outlaw though the 2200s aren't meant to handle 2-ohm nominal loads like the ones I've seen enclosed subwoofers used in car audio set-ups.

    Thanks again. JD

Passive subwoofer suggestions Empty Velodyne SC (sub contractor) subwoofers

    Post  jedinite24 April 1st 2010, 8:07 pm

    Hi everyone

I was able to find a set of passive subs that I liked the look of and could fit where I wanted to place them.

    Velodyne SC-8 Subwoofer

    http://www.velodyne.com/products/product.aspx?ID=20&sid=9

Does anyone have experience with this sub or this sub series? When I called Velodyne they strongly advocated the use of their own amp the SC-1250. I believe though that any subwoofer amp can be used to power them. I just don't believe them sometimes because they just may want me to buy the whole package amp and subs.

    What do you all think?

    Thanks JD

Velodyne is one of many sub manufacturers that EQ's the amplifier to optimize the system. What they suggest is optimal for that specific amp/driver/box combo.

    hi Saytinh.

I totally forgot about this thread. Let me know that you find. I've been powering my Velodyne passive subs with a Phase Linear 700B and they have been sounding fine. I figure those subs are hard to drive and the Phase Linear has been rebuilt and has been known to destroy speakers. It seems like this is a match up of the irresitable force facing the immovable object. (Sorry I've been watching old wrestling matches)

I know on Audiogon's forum there was a member who was having trouble powering his Velodyne passive subwoofers with meridian amps. Whatever you find I'll share with them. Thanks
